Our family toured a paper plant with family friends, the Blanfords. Mr. Blanford was a pilot for American Airlines and I'm sure appreciated learning more about paper. The two in the striped shirts are Jim and Bill, and Mary is holding onto her dad's hand on the right.

Taken at Crystal Beach in Ontario, Canada. From left to right there's Bill Gleeson, Paul Gleeson, Mary Murphy Gleeson, Mary Gleeson, and Jim Gleeson.

Standing is Bill and Jim Gleeson, seated is Mary and Paul in a Loblaw express wagon. Loblaw was the local grocery store. Since it was six to eight blocks away, I wonder if my mother used this to pick up a couple groceries since she did not have a car.

This is a picture of Mary Gleeson. This was my "spring coat" this year. It had a little white collar that would come off so you could wash it. In Buffalo, you would have a Sunday winter coat and a Sunday spring coat. We always dressed up for church.

Mary Gleeson's first day of school in a red plaid dress. Going to PS 13 because Christ the King didn't offer kindergarden. I went to a half-day kindergarden and my teacher was Ms. Birduff. We rested on a mat each day. We had a large classroom without any desks. We enjoyed a day of deliberate supervised play.

This sweet boy is my brother, Paul Gleeson. We lived on Lamarck Drive in Buffalo, NY. I love how his shorts were pulled up so high...Mom had no doubt fixed his pants for the picture.  Sweet.

This is our whole family probably around summer of 1951 in the backyard at the house on Lamarck Dr. Dad holding Mary, Mom standing near Paul, Bill in the back, and Jim in the front.

228 Lamarck Drive. This is the first house that Dad and Mom bought. It was three bedrooms and one bathroom. The bathroom was on the second floor, but there was a lone toilet in the middle of the basement. I was told there was a rat found by one of my brothers in that toilet and I don't think I ever considered going there. My dad borrowed the down payment by buying and selling used cars. After WWII there was a big shortage of automobiles and he successfully sold cars for more than he payed for them. We lived in this house from 1947 until the summer of 1953.
